LAHORE: Punjab Food Authority has intensified its operations in various districts of the province. In the first phase, food points, bakeries and other places in Lahore, Multan and Faisalabad Divisions have been strictly checked up and legal proceedings carried out against local food manufacturers.

Talking in this regard, Punjab Senior Minister and Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that adulators edibles are enemies of the country and the nation, such elements do not deserve any concession and strict measures will be taken against them.

He said that clear instructions have been issued to the Punjab Food Authority in this regard and apart from public holidays, raids will be carried out on Sundays despite the holiday, especially at breakfast and traditional food centers.

Senior Minister said that sellers of expired and substandard food items will be strictly monitored. Abdul Aleem Khan said that he was personally monitoring the activities of the Punjab Food Authority across the province and no "sifarish" in this regard would be taken into account nor leniency would be shown. He said that it is very important for milk, cooking oil, bakery items and basic food items to be at par with set standard which affects the health and life of the common man. For this purpose Punjab Food Authority is being empowered and In Sha Allah, in the coming days, especially in the big cities of the province, more and more operations will be ensured, Abdul Aleem Khan added.

On the directions of Senior and Food Minister Punjab, teams conducted raids in different areas of Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Vehari, Lodhran, Faisalabad, Lahore and Multan and took action on the spot for violating the prevailing laws and hotels were sealed by stopping the production and legal action was taken against those responsible.
