KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani on Friday said that he has submitted a plan before the Sindh government for the bringing in 200 buses on Karachi roads to ease the public transport plight of the citizens. Shallwani was talking to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) delegation comprising members Sindh Assembly on Friday which called on him at his office.

"I will serve the city with courage by using all the powers I have and utilising all available resources. Water scarcity, lack of public transport and solid waste lifting are three main issues being faced by Karachiites. If these issues are resolved, the city's people might be given huge relief," Shallwani said.

The PTI delegation was led by MPA and its Karachi President Khurram Sher Zaman. The Administrator said that repair work on the roads affected by rains has been initiated as well directives were issued for installation of street light on all roads.

He said that Karachi has many widened roads, the transport woes could be overcome, if at least 200 new buses are brought in.

"I have given plan to Sindh government for rederssal of transport issues according to which 200 new buses could be run on widened roads across the city," he added.

He was of the view that he would try his best to resolve city's problems as per power conferred upon him under Sindh Local Government Act 2013.

Shallwani said that beautification works are in progress in different parts of the city, adding that Street Library concept was introduced in Karachi and the people duly appreciated the same. He said that three such libraries have been established so far.

He added that international organisations could be approached for helping uplift of parks and libraries. Speaking on the occasion, PTI Leader Khurram Sher Zaman assured his cooperation to the Administrator for betterment of the city. He said that there is dire need of uplift work in Karachi and for this purpose each member of the PTI stand besides the local administration.

"All PTI members would remain in contact with the Administrator and ready to tender all out support," he added. Shallwani said that the people would soon witness great change on 106 big arteries of Karachi.
