LETTER: A study conducted by Aga Khan University has reached a profound conclusion insofar the incidence of Covid-19 in Karachi, the country's largest city, is concerned. According to it, up to 95 percent of the coronavirus cases in Karachi have been asymptomatic as research has found that more than nine out of 10 people who contracted the coronavirus showed no sign of the disease. "Ninety-five percent of those who tested positive for Covid-19 reported feeling no symptoms of illness such as a cough, fever or sore throat," Imran Nisar, the study's lead researcher, has been quoted as saying by media reports.
In my view, the study suggests that hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people have been infected by this deadly virus in Karachi. What does it mean? I think the situation underscores the need for strict observance or Corona-related SoPs because the danger of second wave of Covid-19 looms. The countries of central Europe, for example, are now facing higher numbers than during the spring peak of Covid-19.
