KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 154,787 tonnes of cargo comprising 98,109 tonnes of import cargo and 56,678 tonnes of export cargo including 6,240 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 98,109 tonnes comprised of 47,202 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,607 tonnes of bulk cargo; 15,200 tonnes of wheat and 30,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 56,678 tonnes comprised of 30,770 tonnes of containerised cargo; 677 tonnes of bulk cargo; 13,217 tonnes of clinker; 11,520 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 494 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 6,240 containers comprising of 3,384 containers import and 2,856 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 744 of 20's and 1,255 of 40's loaded while 08 of 20's and 61 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 904 of 20's and 572 of 40's loaded containers while 484 of 20's and 162 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely Paris Express, Charlotte Schulte, Ubena, Safeen Oryx, MT Shalamar and Seacon-6 carrying containers, oil tanker and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Diyala, Moen Island, Botany Bay, Chemroad Rose, MT Quetta and Linus-P carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

There are five ships namely Moen Island, CSL Sophie, Tabernacle Prince, Linus-P and Hibiscus carrying containers, chemical and clinker respectively expected to sail on Thursday.

There are four vessels viz. MSC Maria Laura, Nord Spring, Express Guernssy and Dubai Charm carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Thursday while six more vessels viz. Kota Kaya, MSC Jeanne, Kapitan Maslov, Flag Filia, Dato Success and KSL Dan Yang carrying containers, DAP and general cargo respectively are expected due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 195,304 tonnes comprising 144,099 tonnes of import cargo and 51,205 tonnes of export cargo including 4,376 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 144,099 tonnes includes 50,500 tonnes of coal; 1,050 tonnes of LPG; 3,000 tonnes of palm oil; 16,500 tonnes of canola; 40,413 tonnes of gasoline; 697 tonnes of project cargo and 31,939 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 51,205 tonnes includes 51,205 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,376 containers comprising of 1,681 containers import and 2,695 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely Maersk Atlanta and Han Hui carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while five more ships namely Xpress Guemsey, Makiki, IVS Nauro, White Purl and STI Pride carrying containers, coal, LPG and gasoline respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, canola, LPG, gasoline and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twenty one vessels viz. Jeppeson Maersk, Aldi Wave, CMA CGM Ivannoe, Adames, Izumo, KSL Don Yong, Al-Bion Bay, Elicon, Karimu, Agmars, Mceliga, Hasan, YM Stum, YM Pacific, Tomson Gas, Gas Zous, Nord Venus, Cordula Jacob, Aporic, Velos Saphire and Chemroad Wing carrying containers, general cargo, steel coil, coal, cement, chemical, soyabean, canola, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. CMA CGM Ivanhoe, Aldi Wave, Sphene, KSL Dong Yang, Elikon and Cordula Jacob carrying containers, general cargo, coal and gasoline respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There was one ship namely Sphene carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday while another ship namely CMA CGM Ivanhoe carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
