(Karachi) A child was killed when a four-storey building collapsed in Karachi's Korangi Town, media has reported. Eight people, including women and children have been recovered from the rubble.

As per details, the incident occurred in Allah Wala Town where the building came crumbling down. Soon after the incident, rescue workers and police rushed to the spot. There are reports that several people are buried under the debris.

The buildings situated near the site of the incident have also been damaged. Heavy machinery has been called in to clear the rubble. However, there are no reports of casualties till filing of this report.

According to area residents, at least five to six families were residing in the building. They said the SBCA had declared the building dangerous and sent the residents eviction notices but people did not evacuated the building.

SBCA officials said that the building was constructed through China cutting. They said the collapsed building was built on encroached land. The plot is part of a playground, the SBCA officials pointed out.

Earlier in June, a woman died and several people were left wounded after a multi-storey residential building in Karachi collapsed.

The tragic incident took place at a five-storey residential building located in Lyari’s Kalri area. The building collapsed with a loud explosion, causing fear and panic among the residents. The area plunged into darkness as electricity went out soon after the incident. Following the incident, army, Rangers troops, police and rescuers from different welfare associations rushed to the site of the incident and mounted the search and rescue operation.
