Pakistan limited-overs captain Babar Azam sparked an outrage on social media after mistakenly sporting an alcohol brand logo on his kit while representing Somerset in the Vitality T20 Blast.

Tribute is the title and shirt sponsor in addition to being the official beer of Somerset.

The 25-year-old played a brilliant 42-run knock facing 35 deliveries while playing first match for the English club on Thursday.

Last year, Babar and Test captain Azhar Ali, while representing the club, refused to don the alcohol company’s logo.

Cricket Pakistan citing its sources reported that the logo was left on his shirt by mistake. Somerset will remove the logo before the next match, which is on Friday.

Many Muslim cricketers in the past have refused to don alcohol logos on their jersey. South African cricketer Hashim Amla sacrificed the part of his match fee for not promoting the alcoholic product while playing for his national team.
