Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood dismissed on Friday reports that education institutions will remain closed till October.

In a tweet on Friday, the minister said that fake accounts in his name are spreading this false news and they are not true. "Education ministers will meet on 7th to finally decide with likelihood of opening on Sept 15 in a phased manner," the minister said.

In July, the government had announced its decision of reopening schools on September 15. However, the government contended that they will first review the coronavirus situation in the country before reopening all education institutions.

Mahmood has announced that all schools once they open, will have to strictly follow guidelines provided by the government. He also said a final decision will be taken on September 7 on reopening schools.

Pakistan has so far recorded 297,512 coronavirus cases and 6,335 deaths.
