KARACHI: On Thursday, Pakistan Rupee displayed mixed behaviour. It lost value to USD in both interbank and open markets while gaining value against Euro in open market. This could be the effect of dollar gaining ground against Euro in global currency markets as investors trimmed their bets against the greenback and sold the euro on concerns that the European Central Bank was worried about its rise (https://www.brecorder.com/news/40016192/dollar-holds-gains-as-traders-trim-short-bets-data-boosts-yuan).

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee lost 50 paisas for buying and 40 paisas for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 166 and 166.10 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR lost 20 paisas for buying and remained unchanged for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 166.20 and 166.50 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR gained 1.50 rupees for both buying and selling closing at 195.50 and 197 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 5 paisas for buying and remained unchanged for selling closing at 45.05 and 45.30 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR lost 5 paisas for buying while gaining 10 paisas for selling closing at 43.85 and 44 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee appreciated its worth on the buying side while it stayed unchanged on the selling side in relation to the greenback in the local currency market on Thursday.

According to currency dealers, the greenback lost 10 paisas and closed for buying at Rs 166.10 against the opening rate of Rs 166.20 whereas it did not witness any change for selling at Rs 167.20.

Furthermore, the rupee continued upward trend for the second consecutive day against the pound sterling. Consequently, the pound's buying and selling rates further decreased from the Wednesday's closing of Rs 220.00 and Rs 221.50 to Rs 219.50 and Rs 221.00 respectively, they added.
