Omni Group's Anwar Majeed granted bail by SC
- He has been directed to submit his passport with the court.
The Supreme Court (SC) granted on Wednesday bail to the head of the Omni Group and a close aide of former president Asif Ali Zardari, Anwar Majeed in the fake accounts case.
Justice Mushir Alam headed the two-member bench and ordered his release. During the hearing today, the court directed Majeed to submit a bank guarantee of Rs100 million to the SC registrar.
The top court also directed that his name will remain on the no-fly list, and he will be required to submit his passport with the court, local media reported. Majeed's lawyer Munir A. Malik told the bench that his client has been advised to undergo surgery in the United States or the United Kingdom.

However, the court did not give him permission to travel abroad. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor informed the top court that since the first day of his arrest, Majeed has not been presented at the NAB office ever since.
The court ordered Majeed to cooperate with the bureau and warned that his bail could be canceled if he fails to do so.
Majeed along with Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur and others have been accused of being involved in a case of Rs35 billion money laundering through fake accounts.
