Tech giant Amazon sets foot in Pakistan

  • As per details, Amazon, the world’s largest eCommerce platform has registered an office in Pakistan under the name Amazon Data Services Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd.

It seems that the government and private sector endeavors to woo global tech firms into Pakistan are bearing fruits after the eCommerce giant Amazon has finally registered an office in the country.

As per details, Amazon, the world’s largest eCommerce platform has registered an office in Pakistan under the name Amazon Data Services Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd and according to records of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Paul Andrew Macpherson would serve as the CEO of the office, revealed Bilal Gilani, Executive Director Gallup Pakistan in a tweet post.

Paul Andrew Macpherson ha s been serving as the Director Infrastructure Operations (Australia, Japan, South Korea) at Amazon Web Services (AWS) for the last 7 months.

It is pertinent to mention that Seattle based company founded by billionaire Jeff Bezos focuses on e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. It is considered one of the Big Four technology companies, along with Google, Apple, and Facebook, and has been referred to as "one of the most influential economic and cultural forces in the world" as well as the world's most valuable brand.
