CAA to take action, if found smoking in cockpit, cabin
- The CAA has asked all operators to ensure a culture of non-smoking in the cockpit.
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has taken notice of smoking on the planes, especially in the cockpit and cabin.
As per details, the Civil Aviation Authority issued a warning about smoking on pilots' planes. According to the CAA, smoking in the cockpit and cabin of aircraft will be subject to severe disciplinary action, while smoking in the cockpit and cabin may result in suspension and fine.
The CAA has asked all operators to ensure a culture of non-smoking in the cockpit.
Pakistan aviation sector is under stress these days after the issue of Pakistani pilots possessing ‘dubious licenses’ was raised by Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan.
On June 26, Aviation Minister transpired the number of pilots who possess "dubious licenses" is around 262 which includes 141 of the national flag carrier.
He said that the said pilots have been banned from flying. He said all these pilots were recruited prior to 2018. The government also terminated five officials of aviation ministry for their involvement in the scam.
He stated the government initiated action against the pilots after the court took notice of the matter. At least nine pilots out of 28 have confessed they do not possess valid flying license and failed to clear papers, he pointed out.
