The German fashion house, Hugo Boss placement of its first order of sportswear to a Pakistani company was a matter of both pride and relief for the country's garment industry.

However, the announcement turns sweeter after it was learned that the Pakistani company who has booked the order from the German luxury brand would be making t-shirts for the German national football team.

“We have received the order for supply of sport shirts for their [German] football team,” said Ijaz Ahmed Bhatti, the chief executive of Sialkot-based Rajco Industries, the company that got the order from Hugo Boss, quoted Arab News.

The company’s head expressed optimism that Rajco could deliver the shipment by August.

The placement of order comes at a time of global economic slowdown and would give a much-needed boost and international exposure to Pakistan’s textile industry.

Just days ago, Hugo Boss placed its first order of sportswear to a Pakistani company informed Adviser to Prime Minister of Pakistan for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood. “Happy to note that well-known brand, Hugo Boss, has placed its first order of sportswear to a Pakistani company,” said Dawood in a tweet post.

The advisor was of the view that this achievement was due to the effort of Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) which hold the 35th IAF Fashion Convention in November last year.

It is pertinent to inform that Hugo Boss produces clothing, accessories, footwear, and fragrances. It is one of the biggest German clothing companies, with global sales of €2.9 billion in 2019.
