Sindh governor visits Indus University

KARACHI: Governor Sindh Mohammad Zubair who is also the patron of private sector universities said on Friday that higher education was of utmost importance for the progress and prosperity of any country as university graduates play a pivotal role in taking the country forward.

This he said while addressing the faculty members and students during his visit of Indus University. Its Chancellor Khalid Ameen was also present on the occasion.

The governor said that establishment of private sector universities had initiated healthy competition for quality enhancement through research and implementation of latest teaching material.

This transformation at higher education level is preparing the students more effectively to compete at the highest level, he observed.

Zubair said that research is of paramount importance for any higher education institution as it not only equip the faculty and students in line with the advancements in different fields but also update their knowledge about various matters, Research is the basic tool to be able to compete and be at par with the developed countries, he added While referring towards establishment of campuses of various public and private sector varsities at Education City Malir, Governor Sindh said that basic purpose of this project is to ensure availability of public and private sector universities at one place.

On pointation of bottlenecks and problems being confronted by private sector universities with regards to establishment of their campuses there, Governor Sindh assured that the same would be looked into and resolved as soon as possible.

The governor praised the management of the University for making it a reputed institution of higher learning. The quality of education at the university make it an outstanding institution, he added. Zubair said that he was very much impressed with the confidence level of the students of the University and it shows the great work being carried out by the facility here.

Youth must be encouraged and trained according to their abilities so as to utilize their services in a befitting manner, he opined.

The governor was informed on the occasion that the university was awarded charter in 2012 and currently as many as 5000 students were enrolled here. Chancellor Khalid Amin informed the governor about the problems comforted by the university and asked for his help.
