BUDAPEST: Voter support for Hungary's ruling right-wing Fidesz party dropped slightly in January but at 32 percent Fidesz is still the runaway favourite to win elections on April 8, a fresh poll by the Republikon institute showed on Friday.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban's Fidesz seeks a third consecutive term in parliamentary elections, campaigning with a fierce anti-immigrant message, coupled with increased spending on wage rises and promising more money to pensioners.
In a poll published by website 24.hu, Republikon said Fidesz' support among all voters eased to 32 percent from 34 percent in December, while the main radical nationalist opposition party Jobbik gained one percentage point to 11 percent.
The Socialists scored eight percent in January, up one percentage point from December. Some 38 percent of voters were undecided.
