ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has said that India’s repressive tactics cannot deter the Kashmiri people from continuing their struggle for securing their right to self-determination.

According to Kashmir Media service, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar said, “State sponsored tactics won’t deter us from pursuing our mission, nor will these suppressive and aggressive measures make us surrender.

We are peace-loving people and pursuing our peaceful struggle for the past 70 years.” He said, coercive measures, killings, detentions and suppression will yield nothing, instead will lead to devastation.

The APHC Chairman while lashing at the puppet authorities said, “They have let loose a reign of terror and turned Jammu and Kashmir into a big jail. The resistance leaders are being caged, denied political space, hundreds languishing for decades and even lodged in Tihar, Jodhpur, Kolkata and other jails.”

Quoting relatives of jail mates, Syed Ali Gilani said that reports pouring in were horrific and the detainees were subjected to ill-treatment. He expressed his deep anguish and concern over the worsening condition of prisoners, saying that they were being ill-treated and subjected to mental and physical torture in jails.

The APHC Chairman urged the international human rights organizations to take notice of the condition of Kashmiri prisoners languishing in different jails of occupied Kashmir and India.

These prisoners are subjected to political vendetta, he said, adding that oppression against Kashmiris, particularly youth, is going on and the Kashmiri inmates are subjected to inhuman deprivation of medical treatment, deprived of contact with families and also other basic needs are denied to them. He demanded of global human rights watchdogs to visit these jails to take stock of the plight of the Kashmiri detainees.

Meanwhile, Syed Ali Gilani expressed deep concern over the falling health of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Dr Ghulam Muhammad Butt, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Peer Saifullah, Merajuddin Kalwal, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Shahid-ul-Islam and Farooq Ahmad Dar and other Kashmiris including Kamran Yousuf, Javaid Ahmed, Muhammad Aslam Wani, Zahoor Ahmed Watali and Muzaffar Ahmed Dar in Tihar Jail. He said that no proper medical facility was provided to the detainees.
