RAWALPINDI: The concept of setting up Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) centers in the province has produced remarkable results for speedy disposal of cases, said Chief Justice Lahore High Court(LHC) Syed Mansoor Ali Shah here Tuesday.

He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony of setting up ADR center at Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) .

The CJ said that around 10,000 cases were submitted with ADR centers and 7000 cases were resolved in the province which is unprecedented in judiciary’s history that has provided extra relief to the litigants.

He also urged traders to support the ADR system as this would save their time, adding the ADR was the future.

He said business community has better say in profit and loss and they want to focus themselves in their business rather in litigation. We have to move from right base approach to interest base approach by resolving issues through ADR.

He appreciated RCCI for taking initiative and coordinating with Community Judge for executed the idea of ADR at RCCI.

CJ LHC while referring to 62 billion dollar investment under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other Chinese Projects said "we have to look for ADR for such possible litigations".

He said that due to rapid influx of Chinese investments, the numbers of disputes would also increase that would create the demand for an effective regulatory system rightly termed as ‘Alternative Dispute Resolution’ focused to facilitate smooth flow of investment in Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s).

The CJ said currently we have one judge on 62000 people, which is not possible to cater all cases in speedy manner.

He offered trainings for chamber members for ADR and said that the ADR center at RCCI is the flag ship.
