Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik on Sunday said that the government had approached Interpol for issuance of red warrant against former President General Pervez Musharraf (retd), seeking his extradition to the country over his alleged involvement in the assassination of late Benazir Bhutto.
Talking to journalist outside National Press Club, Malik said: "We've formally requested Interpol to issue 'red warrants' for General Musharraf over the murder of late Benazir Bhutto."
The former president, who has been living in self-exile since 2008, shuttling between UK and UAE, could not stage a come back despite announcement last year when he was warned that he would be arrested upon return due to cases against him in different courts.
About amnesty to disgruntled Baloch leaders, he said that the cases would be withdrawn against them, if they return home. "Just come back...I assure that I'll fulfil all the promises made with them and their cases registered by the state will be withdrawn," he added.
Malik said that he would welcome Bramdagh Bugti, a disgruntled Baloch leader, when he would return to Pakistan. Bugti along with his 5,000 accomplices, he said, had a training camp in Afghanistan. "The Afghan government was forced to take action against them when Pakistan provided information," he added.
He went on saying that despite all this they invite them to come back and sit with government on the dialogue table to resolve Balochistan issue and assured them they would not be arrested upon return to the country.
He also turned down the reports of hundreds of missing persons from Balochistan, saying that only 48 persons were missing in the province. "According to my information, only 48 people are missing," he said.
When asked about illegal presence of a large number of US nationals in Pakistan, he said there was not even a single US citizen residing in the country without valid visa.
