Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital Professor Tariq Salah-ud-Din said that Physiotherapy Department of LGH has been upgraded through induction of modern equipment and facilities at a cost of Rs 2 crore. Projects of LGH Physiotherapy College, Nursing Institute and Paramedical School are also being planned in order to cope with future needs. Moreover, construction of multi-storey flats for doctors, nurses and paramedical staff is also underway to facilitate the staff.
He expressed this while addressing a function held in connection with distribution of certificates among the participants of physiotherapy training workshop which was attended by heads of Physiotherapy Departments from all over the Punjab. Dr Hans Sein, an expert on the subject, belonging to Holland, also delivered a special lecture to the participants. In charge Physiotherapy Department Dr Umal Banain briefed the participants about the working of her section.
Professor Tariq Salah-ud-Din said in his address that physiotherapy is useful treatment to rehabilitate those who get their nerves and body parts damaged as a result of disease or accident. He told that a five-year course of physiotherapy, ie, Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT) would be introduced at proposed LGH Physiotherapy College. He further said that capacity-building course has been initiated at PGMI in order to improve professional expertise and skills of the doctors. Senior professors are imparting knowledge and guidance to the trainee doctors and this programme is focused to ensure better diagnostic and treatment facilities to the patients, he added. Professor Tariq also admired Punjab government for approving Ameer-ud-Din Medical College and Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences and said this commendable step would go a long way for helping ailing humanity. MS LGH Dr Muhammad Hassan said on the occasion that to provide best available facilities to patients is the first priority of the LGH administration.
