Waheeda Shah could not cast vote

The short-tempered Ms Waheeda Shah, PPP's candidate in by-election of PS-53, Tando Mohammad Khan, could not cast her vote in Senate election due to withholding of her by-election result; while, newly-elected MPA Hasnain Mirza took part in Senate election. The Senate election was held at Committee Room-1 of Sindh Assembly building here on Friday.
According to unofficial information, Waheeda Shah had won the by-election held on February 25, 2012, but official election result has been withheld by the authorities of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) because she had slapped a female Assistant Polling Officer (APO) on the Election Day. It may be noted here that District Returning Officer Ali Asghar Siyal would record the statement of Waheeda Shah over the matter of slapping the female APO, today on March 3, 2012, here at the office of Provincial Election Commissioner.
Siyal would also record the statements of other 10 candidates of by-election including Sarfaraz Ahmed Bhatti, Irshad Hussein Shah, Aijaz Hussein Shah, Amir Zardari, Fazal Nizamani, Saleem Samro, Mir Khalid Hussein Talpur, Mir Lutuf Ali Talpur and Niaz Almani and hot rival Mushtaq Ali Talpur.
Sindh's PEC also called female APO (who has been slapped) and other witnesses to record their statements on same day. DSP Tando Mohammad Khan Irfan Shah has also been called for the statement that was present there when Ms Shah slapped the female APO.
Not only had this, but Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) also called Waheeda Shah on March 6, 2012, for the hearing of complaint lodged by her rival candidate Mushtaq Talpur. Mushtaq Talpur in his complaint stated that Waheeda Shah, Federal Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar, District officers and others who rigged by-election held on February 25, 2012.
It may be noted here that Supreme Court of Pakistan has also took suo moto notice of Waheeda Shah's slapping issue. When contacted, Waheeda Shah told Business Recorder that all the things are in the authority of Almighty Allah, she hoped that she would be in Sindh Assembly very soon.
On the other hand, Hasnain Mirza who contested and won the by-election on the same day in PS-57 (Old-Badin) has cast his vote as MPA for Senate election. Hasnain Mirza, son of Former home minister, Dr Zulifqar Mirza, took oath as MPA on March 1st, 2012, and thus became eligible to vote for the Senate election. Talking to Business Recorder, he said that he has cast the votes to his party candidates and will be loyal to the party for whole life saying that he will follow the discipline of PPP and will serve the people of his constituency and the Sindh as well.
