Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that no new tax was imposed on the citizens and the Municipal Services Utility Tax had been levied during the tenure of former City Nazim Karachi Mustafa Kamal through a resolution adopted by the city council in June 2008.
He said this in a meeting held here to review the municipal services tax which was attended by the Financial Adviser Amir Khursheed, Director Municipal Services Tariq Naseer, Sr. Director Health Services Dr Shoukat Zaman and other officers.
Administrator Karachi said KMC was not charging for any of its services besides the municipal services utility tax while it was making all efforts to continue the development process in the city and the journey of development and progress was going on.
He further said that KMC was performing public welfare works constantly like construction and maintenance of roads, flyovers, underpasses and overhead bridges were carried out to improve the city infrastructure besides the installation of street lights and storm water drains, developing beautiful parks and playgrounds for citizens and their maintenance, sanitation works and cleaning and de-silting of drains and others to facilitate the Karachiites.
