Corruption in lower judiciary: Supreme Court directs applicant to produce evidence

The Supreme Court on Friday directed an applicant to produce on Monday concrete evidences about corruption in lower judiciary so that they could set example by initiating legal action in accordance with law. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while heading a three-member bench told an applicant Haji Muhammad Javed Akhtar that levelling of allegations was easy thing, but proving it was the real job.
He observed that it was good thing that public had been assisting the Court by bringing in cases of human rights. He also reminded the applicant that he should remember, in case, these allegations were proved wrong, then there would be legal consequences.
The applicant, appearing in person, claimed that everyone from politicians to judiciary had been claiming to purge the country of corruption but it was still rampant in society.
