SC directs Sharif, Tareen to appear before court on Tuesday

A notice was issued by the Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday to the deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Jahangir Tareen to appear before the court on January 30 (tomorrow), pertaining to the Article 62(1) (f) of the Constitution under which they both had been disqualified.
According to local media reports, the SC has directed those who are summoned to appear in person or through their counsel. During the hearing, the bench will decide their punishment time period and whether their disqualification is timeless or not.
The five member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, comprises Judges Umar Ata Bandial, Azmat Saeed Sheikh, Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan. The bench will take up 17 cases related to the disqualification of parliamentarians.

Sharif was disqualified on July 28 last year following his name in the Panama Papers and being unable to declare his offshore accounts. Jahangir was disqualified on December 15 by the SC for not disclosing his off-shore company.
