Message from Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Karachi
Today, 11 February is the 33rd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution of Iran and establishment of the Islamic republic system in Iran. I, as a representative of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran congratulate all the Muslims and the lovers of Iran on the advent of this day.
32 years ago, on that very day, the Iranian nation succeeded in bringing down the biggest dictatorship of the Middle East and establishing the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the basis of Quran, freedom, justice, respect, people's participation and peaceful relations with the outside world under the great leadership of Imam Khomeini.
As you all know, this revolution brought radical changes in all dimensions of political, economy, culture and human relation.
In the field of politics and international relations, proud to all the prevailing systems in the world, from socialism and communism of the eastern bloc to the capitalist in imperialism of the western bloc that through dependence on the eternal and sovereign power of God and without any fear from the so-called super powers, a government can be established which is based on the Quranic instruction, religious principles, human nature and people's wishes.
In the economic field, it rejected all theories of the dominating capitalist and socialist economic systems and introduced a new Islamic economic system in the world which is based on social equality and justice and supports the weak and downtrodden section of the society.
And in cultural, social and human relations fields, the Islamic revolution introduced a new system in the Iranian society which is based on the God-searching nature and the ethics rooted in the divine human building teachings, and the rich Islamic and Quranic culture.. a system which not only the and western obscenity and decadence but also brought all values and power and richness of the society too therefore As a result, today the world is witnessing a wholesome Islamic society in Iran in which not only the affairs related to education, research health and social and intro-family relations are based on Islamic culture but also the electronic and print media which are totally attached to the world public opinion are impressed by this culture. Historical films based on Quranic stories and also social and other films are being produced when Islamic teachings are strictly obeyed, leading no room for any moral decadence and deviation from Islamic path. Thus in one sentence, it may be said that this revolution was totally a cultural revolution.
Now that the Islamic revolution is into its fourth decade, the Iranian nation despite the extensive US pressure and that of the other oppressive regimes, have been able to achieve remarkable advancements in educational, cultural, economical, industrial, agricultural and social fields.
Along with domestic advancements, the Islamic Republic of Iran has a vast diplomatic and trade relation with his outside world and today, its goods are exported to 160 countries of the world. Iran is also a member of a number of important international economic organisations including the UN, Opec and ECO and is an observer member of the World Trade organisation.
In discharge of its international commitments, the Islamic republic of Iran has an active pressure in global arena and is the founder of a number of UN resolutions on global peace and eradication of weapons of human's destruction. Islamic Republic of Iran gives a special importance to its relations with the neighbouring countries and so co-operation with neighbours including Pakistan is on top of its agenda.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Iran in 1948, these two countries are enjoying very good relations which are based on mutual understanding and friendship. The Supreme Leader of revolution as well as officials of the government of Islamic Republic of Iran always laid much stress upon development of bilateral relations and regional do=operation with the neighbouring countries.
A part from the old cultural and region linkages, Iran and Pakistan have similar views on almost all political and security issues owing to common regional and international challenges facing them including narcotics control. Under instruction given by the higher authorities of Iran and Pakistan, the trade between Iran and Pakistan has reached to an acceptable level, but considering the potentials of the two countries, this volume is surely unsatisfactory and must be made to rise... to the level of 5 billion dollars over the next four years as agreed upon by the commerce minister of the two countries in 2011.
We hope the public and private sectors of Iran and Pakistan will achieve this target through exploitation of economic and trade potentials of the two countries. Joint Investment in sector like energy, information technology, agriculture, textile industry, animal husbandry industry, car making, steel manufacturing and building construction is the best way to promote their bilateral trade. A part from that, expansion of banking can be very helpful in promotion of trade. Iran's gates are always open for Pakistani traders and Investors and we support investment by Pakistani companies in Iran and Iranian companies in Pakistan.
I am very thankful for the cordial hospitality extended to me by Pakistani officials and the Sindh government authorities especially by the Honourable Governor of Sindh H.E Mr Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan and the Honourable Chief Minister of Sindh H.E Mr Syed Qaim Ali Shah and pray to the almighty Allah for their health, success and prosperity and for increasing honour, peace and welfare for the great brotherly nation of Pakistan.
At the end I am pleased to address the readers of this special supplement to mark the 33rd National Day of Iran. I wish this publication would present a comprehensive picture of my country and will provide useful information on bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan. I would also like to congratulate' Ambassador Magazine" for taking such an excellent initiative of publishing this supplement and wish them success in their endeavours for further strengthening of bilateral and economic relations between Pakistan and Iran.
