Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 58,333 tonnes of cargo comprising 33,689 tonnes of import cargo and 24,644 tonnes of export cargo including 2,837 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 33,689 tonnes comprised of 17,858 tonnes of containerised cargo; 46 tonnes of general cargo; 9,857 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,478 tonnes of wheat; 1,000 tonnes of coal; 7,379 tonnes of rock phosphate and 5,928 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,644 tonnes comprised of 8,145 tonnes of containerised cargo; 270 tonnes of general cargo; 10,149 tonnes of bulk cargo: 673 tonnes of cement; 4,150 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 5,326 tonnes of rice and 6,080 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Five ships namely UASC Shuwaikh, Cap Graham, Lodestar Genesis, MT Lahore and UBC Cyprus with two container ships, two oil tankers and one bulk cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Four vessels viz YM Fuzhou, Abtin-1, Argent Fresia and Red Fin with two container ships, one oil tanker and one bulk cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
A container ship namely Kota Akbar is expected to sail on Saturday. Seven vessels viz APL Sokhna, Emirates Wasl, Lt Genova, Kota Akbar, APL Brisbane, Kei and MT Quetta with five container ships, one chemicals carrier and one crude oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Friday, while four vessels viz Ginga Hawk, Akaki, Glen Canyon Bridge and King Hero with one base oil tanker, one crude oil tanker, one container ship and one general cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIMA cargo volume of 75,998 tonnes, comprising 43,271 tonnes of import cargo and 32,727 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,460 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 43,271 tonnes includes 14,291 tonnes of canola seeds and 28,980 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 32,727 tonnes includes 3,747 tonnes of cement and 28,980 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two container ships namely CV Safmarine Ngami and CV Nicoline Maersk sailed out to sea on Friday morning.
A total number of four CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Nicoline Maersk, MV Florida-II and MV Coronado are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement and canola seeds respectively during last 24 hours. As many as four ships namely MARC Atlanticum, Ginga Falcon, Estia and Fair Spirit with containers, edible oil, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
A total number of three vessels CV MARC Atlanticum, MT Ginga Falcon and MT Fair Spirit with containers, edible oil and furnace oil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
