Leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam JUI-N (Nazriati) on Friday blamed the former opposition leader in the National Assembly for the break-up of a religious political alliance-Muttahida Majlis Amal (MMA).
Speaking at a news conference at Karachi Press Club, Central General Secretary of JUI-N, Maulana Abdul Qadir Lowni, General Secretary JUI-N Sindh chapter, Pir Waheedullah Halijo and Senior Vice Chief of JUI-N Sindh chapter, Maulana Abdul Kareem Madni said the greater said Jamat-e-Islam had an insignificant role in the collapse of the former alliance.
"Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman shares a big role in the break-up of MMA and JI has a little role," they said, adding that the MMA was now unlikely to rebuild despite it had contribution from all sects and had unity in the national political affairs.
They also criticised the present government for its pro-US policies, which according to them are badly damaging not only the national interest but also the country's official religion Islam. They said the government has to change its US influenced foreign and internal policies to lead the nation towards unity and prosperity.
"Unfortunately, after passing of four years of the present rule, the policies are the same, which the former president Musharraf had evolved," they said. They showed worries about the military operations in federal areas of Pakistan and Balochistan province, saying such policies were causing rift to the national integrity and dividing the country.
They also held the US responsible for bloodshed in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, and Kashmir and in the Arab World, saying the superpower and its allied nations should be blamed for the global unrest. They said Pakistan was founded in the name of Allah and therefore the rulers should implement the divine laws in the country. They also demanded of the government to step up against the killings of religious scholars in the country and arrest the terrorists. They appealed to Karachi's people to participate overwhelmingly in the Difa-e-Pakistan Conference on February 12 in Karachi to make it a successful event.
