Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Mian Abrar Ahmad has expressed concern over unjustified action against pharmaceutical companies, particularly in Karachi, after the tragic deaths of people in Lahore due to adverse drug reaction. He said that the negative propaganda was tarnishing the image of whole pharmaceutical industry of the country, which he claimed was the 4th largest revenue contributor to the national exchequer.
He was of the view that such incidents do occur in other countries as well where proper investigations are launched instead of victimisation to ascertain actual cause of deaths. No where in the world, industries were penalised or compelled to shutdown or sealed, he added. He criticised the registration of FIR against a factory and urged for its withdrawal. He called for giving a fair chance to the owners of the pharma company so that they could clarify their position.-PR
