Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Friday appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take sue motu notice of the remarks of Awami National Party (ANP) leader Ilyas Bilour against MQM. A couple of days back Bilour, in a talk show on a private TV channel, had stated that ANP "tamed" MQM to bring peace in Karachi. Bilour's statement was harshly criticised by MQM.
Speaking at a news conference at Lal Qila Ground, MQM leader Faisal Sabzwari condemning Bilour's statement, said that ANP leader's assertion tantamount to his party's confession that it aided 'bloodshed' in Karachi recently. He demanded of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to take suo motu action.
He said apart from ANP many other murderers were also sitting in Houses. "MQM has knocked every door for Karachi peace, but to no avail," Sabzwari added. Thousands of innocent people were murdered in Karachi, he said, adding that ANP government's misconduct has taken its toll even on Khyber Pakhtunkhawa people. "We condemn the "politics of bloodshed," he said.
"We have sacrificed our lives for the peace of the city. The workers' blood is included in the development of the city," he added. Family members including women of those who were targeted in Orangi, Banaras and 'Kati Pahari' were also present on the occasion.
