Employees Union of Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has opposed the reinstatement of Cotton Export Corporation of Pakistan's (CEC) employees. According to TCP's CBA union, defunct CEC was wounded up by the government and a Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VSR) was introduced and more than 100 employees opted the VRS and retired with all retiring benefits.
Now it has come to knowledge that the sub committee of the cabinet is going to reinstate a large number of employees of the defunct CEC, whose date of appointment does not fall within the period specified in the sacked employees (Reinstatement) Act 2010, besides they have also availed the benefits of VRS.
In case these employees are reinstated by the sub committee, it will open a Pandora box of similar requests from other thousands of employees of defunct CEC and RECP, whose services were dispensed with them with benefits of VRS which will overburden the TCP and its existence will be in question with such huge manpower. There is great unrest among the employees of TCP due to current situation. TCP employees union (CBA) has also approached the ministry of commerce as well as chairman of the sub-committee of the cabinet to refrain in making such decision, which is not covered under the provision of the sacked employees (Reinstatement) Act 2010.-PR
