The Karachi Port handled 217,510 tonnes of cargo comprising 130,839 tonnes of import cargo and 86,671 tonnes of export cargo including 4,876 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 130,839 tonnes comprised of 65,653 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21,704 tonnes of general cargo; 6,526 tonnes of rock phosphate and 36,956 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 86,671 tonnes comprised of 85,647 tonnes of containerised cargo and 1,024 tonnes of cement. Eight ships namely Lara Rickmers, APL Sydney, YM Fuzhou, YM Ningbo, Kota Azam, Golden Denise, Navig8 Loucas and OXL Lotus with five container ships, one ethanol ship, one oil tanker and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Eight vessels viz Vira Bhum, MOL Bravery, Hyundai Colombo, Bunga Melate Satu, Zuma, OXL Lotus, Laurel Island and New Glory with three container ships, two oil tankers, two general cargo ships and one bulk cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. Four ships namely Vira Bhum, MOL Bravery, Bunga Melate Satu and Le Cong with two container ships, one oil tanker and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while two ships namely Hyundai Colombo and Zuma with one container ship and one LSF oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday.
Two vessels viz Stolt Orchid and Caribbean Sea Merchant with one tallow carrier and one container ship respectively due to arrive on Monday, while seven vessels viz President Truman, Santa Balbina, Lodestar Genesis, Dl Clover, UBC Cyprus, Patriotic and Kong Que Song with two container ships, one chemicals carrier, one ethanol ship, one cement carrier, one orthoxylene ship and one general cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total export cargo of 24,757 tonnes includes 950 tonnes of rice and 23,807 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two ships namely CV Maersk Missouri and MV OXL Lotus sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while two more ships namely CV MSC Clora and MT Chemroad Fuji are expected to sail on Monday afternoon.
A total number of six CV MSC Clora, CV Maersk Missouri, MV Al-Barella, MV OXL Lotus, MT Chemroad Fuji and MT Karachi are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, project cargo, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as three ships namely Patriotic, Bunga Allium and Coronado with chemicals, palm oil and canola seeds respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of three vessels viz Patriotic, Bunga Allium and Coronado with chemicals, palm oil and canola seeds respectively are expected to take berths at Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Grain & Fertiliser Terminal (FAP) respectively on Monday, while a furnace oil tanker namely MT Fair Spirit is due to arrive on the same day.
Three ships namely CV Maersk Kalamata, CV Al-Sabahia and MV Florida-II with two container ships and one cement carrier are due to arrive on Tuesday. As many as three vessels viz CV CMA CGM Wagners, CV ACX Marguerite and MT Estia carrying containers and diesel oil are also expected to arrive at Port Qasim.
