The capital police have chalked out an elaborate security plan for main procession of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi on 12th Rabi-ul-Awal, Sunday, February 5, and strict patrolling will be ensured during procession and other religious gatherings in the city to avoid any untoward incident.
According to police plan, issued on Saturday, Islamabad police including Rangers and personnel of other law enforcement agencies, will perform patrolling and security duties on the occasion and main procession starting from Sector G-7 will be completely cordoned off through heavy deployment. A total of 1000 cops will perform security duties, while special teams of Rangers, Crime Investigation Department (CID) and Special Branch police will also be present there.
Procession will start from sector G-7 (Sitara Market) and will culminate near shrine of Hazrat Sakhi Mahmud at Aabpara market after passing through various routes. Following the directives of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan and Senior Superintendent of Islamabad Police (SSP) Muhammad Yousuf, Superintendents of Police (SPs), Sub Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Station House Officers (SHOs) and other police officials will visit the designated routes of procession and ensure effective co-ordination among the security personnel performing duties.
The police officers including SPs will also visit various police posts, on the route of procession, check security duties and brief cops as how to ensure effective security. The route of procession has been divided into four various sectors ie, 1, 2,3 4 and an officer of SP level will be in-charge of security duties in various sectors. The SP (Saddar) Sajid Kiani, SP (City) Muhammad Ilyas, SP (Investigation) Chaudhry Liaqat Ali will monitor the security arrangements in various sectors.
Close liaison will be maintained with organisers of procession and other gatherings in the city. Bomb Disposal Squad will ensure technical sweeping at the routes and venues. Plainclothes police officials will keep watch on suspicious persons. Walk-through gates will be installed at all entry points of procession and metal detectors will be used for checking of participants.
Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has also devised special plan for smooth traffic flow and avoiding inconvenience to the road users. SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood will lead the ITP's personnel on the occasion to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city and divert traffic on alternative routes.
