Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that resources are being utilised for equipping young generation with modern education and laptops are being distributed among talented boy and girl students first time in the history of the country.
He hoped that the revolutionary step of Punjab government will yield far-reaching results and youth receiving the laptops will carve out a prosperous future for the country. He added that besides Punjab, talented students of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan will also be given laptops whereas three lakh laptops (0.3 million) costing Rs 12 billion will be distributed next year. The CM was addressing a function for the distribution of laptops among talented students at Daanish School, Rahim Yar Khan on Thursday.
The CM said dictators and politicians defaced the country during the last 64 years and corruption and plunder are rampant at present. He lamented that those who have looted billions and trillions of rupees are sitting in the power corridors. He furthered that Pakistan's future is at stake and it is facing serious problems and the 'root-cause of all these ills and evils is president Zardari'. He asserted that the sooner the country gets rid of the corrupt government, the better it would be for Pakistan. He claimed that the entire nation is looking towards Quaid Pakistan Muslim League-N, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to steer the country out of crises and if given opportunity by Allah Almighty to serve the country, he would change the destiny of the nation.
The CM pointed out that Punjab government has started programme of distribution of laptops first time in the history of the country for acknowledging commitment and hard work and talent of children of the nation and its distribution is being made on merit and not on political basis. He said that it is the responsibility of these youths to evolve a formula for the promotion of merit, eradication of corruption, elimination of nepotism and rooting-out greed and coercion.
He highlighted that setting up of Daanish Schools is a revolutionary step of Punjab government and students completing their education from these institutions will play an active role in national reconstruction and prosperity. He said it is unfortunate that despite being a nuclear power, country's rulers are 'wandering about in the world with begging bowl'. He emphasised that youths, after acquiring modern education, should strive for national development and progress so that the nation could get rid of the charity of 'aghyaar'.
Shahbaz said thieves and dacoits are imposed on the country and are looting national resources ruthlessly. He reiterated that money looted from the people will be recovered and spent on the uplift of education sector and progress of the country. He claimed that Nawaz Sharif is such a leader who can salvage the country and put it on the road to progress and development. He said that the track record of PML-N is a proof of the fact that it has always endeavoured for national stability and development as well as welfare of the masses.
Later, addressing the inaugural ceremony of the new grain market in Rahim Yar Khan, the CM said Punjab government arranged an exhibition of agriculture items in Berlin, Germany first time which has provided access of Pakistani agriculture produce to world market. On the occasion, he also inaugurated a 100km long road constructed at a cost of Rs 1.13 billion in Rahim Yar Khan. Senator Pervaiz Rashid, members national and provincial assemblies, heads of educational institutions, teachers, parents and a large number of boy and girl students attended the function in which laptops were given to 832 students on merit.
