GoC Swat, Major General Ghulam Qamar has said that the areas of Kalam, Bahrain and Madiyan will be handed over to civil administration from March 1, followed by Malakand Agency in June and Chitral and Dir by end of the current calendar year.
He was addressing the first-ever Security and Development Conference in Malakand Division in Khwazakhela. The meeting held detailed discussion on the matters relating to security and development in the division. The GoC said that with the grace of Allah Almighty and sacrifices of Pakistan Army, police and general public, peace has been restored in the division.
Speaking on the occasion, commissioner of the division, Dr Fakhar-e-Alam said the capacity of Chitral Police and Malakand Levies will be improved. He informed that Saudi Arabia will be providing funds for construction of Kalam Road while completion of Ayub Bridge will take another year.
DIG Police, Malakand Division, Akhtar Hayat Gandapore said that women police personnel will be deployed at the check-post in Dargai to facilitate women of the area. DCO Swat, Kamran Rehman, DCOs, DPOs and officials of security agencies attended the conference.
