Expected increase in POL prices: Jamaat-i-Islami submits adjournment motion in Senate

Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) on Saturday submitted adjournment motion in Senate against the expected increase in petroleum products' prices from February 01. The motion has been signed by three JI senators including Professor Khurshid, Professor Mohammad Ibrahim and Afia Zia on the basis of print and electronic media reports that the government has approved a summary of the Ogra to increase the oil prices from Rs 3 to Rs 6 per litre to be applicable from February 01.
The senators, while strongly opposing the government decision, said that it has already increased the POL prices last month and further increase would be injustice with the already price-hike stricken masses. They said the government has brought storm of price hike twice with the advent of the new year.
