The New Zealand dollar held near a three-month high against the US dollar on Thursday as a more dovish than expected Federal Reserve lifted risk sentiment and overshadowed a soft rate outlook from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. The kiwi dollar rose 1.2 percent to $0.8194, its highest level since late October, from $0.8100 late on Wednesday. It trimmed gains to last trade around $0.8165.
The kiwi was seen supported at $0.8095 with $0.8200 resistance ahead of a key barrier at $0.8229. The Australian dollar held steady around $1.0609 in late trade, after rallying to $1.0620, the highest since the end of October, from Wednesday's late local level of $1.0516.
