Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman on Tuesday said that opposition parties have devised strategy for holding early general polls in the country. Talking to reporters here, the JUI-F chief said that owing to the current situation the government could be pressurised for preparing ground to hold early general elections.
He was confident that the government would accept the demand of early polls if it was provided an appropriate formula. The JUI-F chief who launched a campaign for early elections in the country had also approached various political parties' chiefs including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president Mian Nawaz Sharif and Jamaat-e-Islami chief Syed Munawar Hassan. The government, however, has repeatedly stated that elections would be held on time.
Fazal said that his party along with other opposition parties would continue to exert pressure on the government to follow the early elections plan. To a question regarding the memo controversy, he said that Mansoor Ijaz has been successful in conspiracy to create confrontation among the state institutions. He was of the view that it was better that Ijaz could not come to Pakistan.
According to him memo issue was nothing but it has shaken the entire political system of the country. The JUI-F chief also criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan saying that he (Imran) was trying to bring "Jamiama Khan and Henry Kissinger" brand of Islam in the country, which he said would not be acceptable to all. He also deplored the war against terrorism saying that it was not our own war but innocent people were being killed in the war which has nothing to do with the country's interest.
