Published Updated

At least two persons including an activist of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and a member of outlawed Peoples Amn Committee (PAC) were killed in separate incidents, here on Saturday. According to police and rescue sources, 26-year-old Faizan son of Khan Mohammad was targeted when he was sitting along with his friends at Nishtar Road near Albela Signal in the limits of Soldier Bazaar police station.
Resultantly, Faizan received two bullets on his head and died on the spot while the culprits managed to flee after committing the crime. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico legal formalities. Scores of PPP workers gathered there and staged protest against the killing of their fellow worker.
Police said the victim, who was the resident of Patel Para Jamshed Town and a security guard by his profession, was active worker of PPP (PS-117) and also close aide of PPP leader Saleem Sanjwani. Following the incident, tension gripped several parts of Soldier Bazaar where all the shops and markets were closed due to uncertain condition. Later, police handed over the body to the heirs. Police said the victim was unmarried and hailed from Haripur Hazara. No case was registered till filing of this report.
A bullet-riddled body of a youth was found from Karim Bux Para Shanti Nagar in the limits of Aziz Bhatti police station. The victim, who was later identified as Khalid alias Lamba, 25 son of Abdul Rab, a resident of Dalmia, was found from Karim Bux Para near Dar Ul Furqan Maddarsa.
Police said the recovery was made on the information of the residents and added that the victim received three bullets on different parts of his body. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities where his relative Abdul Razzak Baloch received his body and gave statement that the family of the victim lived in Hub but Khalid was living in Dalmia area for last few months.
Police sources said the victim was an active member of outlawed PAC and was involved in several heinous crimes, adding that the victim was living in that area to hide himself from the police. When contacted, SHO Kenson Dean dispelled the impression that he was a member of outlawed PAC, saying that it is premature to claim his affiliation; investigation was underway and the facts in this regard would be made public, shortly. Later, police handed over the body to the heirs. No case was registered till filing of this report.
