The Pakistan government should direct the institutions imparting engineering, medical, and professional education to launch different language courses so that the professionally skilled workforce could be exported to the developed economies, particularly to the Scandinavian countries to exploit the existing potential.
The foreign remittances in the Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves have significant contribution that could further be enhanced, provided impediments including language barrier are removed, said Senior Vice-President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashif Yunus Mehar while talking to Business Recorder here on Saturday. Besides, strengthening our foreign exchange reserves, the language courses can be beneficial also in giving boost to the country's exports, he said.
"It is not the Sweden alone that needs young workers but the whole of Europe in coming years would be in dire need of skilled workers and a little attention could help Pakistan earn much needed foreign exchange by exporting Human Resource to that part of the world, he added.
Mehar, who has recently returned after a six-day visit of Sweden, said there is a huge scope for the Pakistani engineers and technically skilled workforce. If our professionals are equipped with the languages spoken in the Scandinavian region, they can play vital role for the country's economy. "I held meetings with the Swedish business tycoons who offered collaboration in different sectors like energy preservation, mining techniques, and green technology. Sweden that is a 70-percent export-based economy is ready to extend co-operation which can further pave the way for transfer of technology," he added.
