Prime Minister says gas crisis to be resolved within six months

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the gas crisis would be resolved within six months, adding that the issue of circular debt and power shortage would also be resolved soon. Talking to media after the 9th convocation of Lahore College of Women University (LCWU) here on Friday, the prime minister said that the joint session of the Parliament would take any decision about resumption of Nato supplies.
The premier underlined the need that every institution should work within the ambit of the Constitution to avoid any confrontation. The premier said: ''We have strengthened the state organs by restoring the Constitution and my appearance before the court reflects that we respect judiciary."
To a question regarding the November 28 Nato attack, Gilani said that the government had taken serious notice of the attack. "We got Shamsi Base vacated from US forces, boycotted the Bonn Conference and also blocked Nato supplies," he said. He added that the joint session of the Parliament would decide about the resumption of Nato supplies.
To a question about Perverz Musharraf''s return he said that dictator who could not end corruption despite sloganeering about curbing it while holding powers for several years had no chance to return. Now the dictator, he continued, say the people are again waiting for him. He said, "I want to tell dictators that they will no longer come here."
Earlier, while addressing the convocation Gilani said that modern education was the only means of social and economic growth. He said that his government was fully aware of the vitality of the education. The prime minister announced Rs 50 million as Endowment Fund for Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Chair. He also announced Rs 10 million for establishment of Support Centre for Disabled Students. He said that he would direct Ministry of Information Technology to provide ICT facilities for the University.
On demand for the restoration and renovation of Ganga Ram building and establishment of Central Library in this building, the primer minister asked the University to prepare a PC-1 project and get it approved from the competent forum for inclusion in the Annual Development Programme. The best investment, Gilani remarked, on the part of the government of any country is in standard education, adding the government in connection with the gender equality, is treading the pathway set by Benazir Bhutto.
A separate ministry has been set up for the technical education, he told the convocation. He also announced to establish an IT campus in the university. Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khosa, Executive Director of Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr Sohail Naqvi and Vice Chancellor LCWU Dr Sabiha Mansoor were also present on the occasion.
