Commodities' prices mostly maintain previous levels due to balanced demand-supply position
Commodities like guwar, Irri, barley and makai pushed higher on the wholesale markets during the week ended on January 14, 2012.
On MondayBarley Sindh and Mardan quoted higher at Rs 3450 and Rs 3500, Makai low type was unchanged at Rs 2100, while the other rose by Rs 100 to Rs 2250. Irri-6 Sindh low type lost Rs 30 to Rs 3020, while the better type lost Rs 50 to Rs 3100, rapeseed Nawabshah quoted at Rs 2625 and Rs 2650 while cakes low type was unchanged at Rs 870 while better type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 880.
On Tuesday Irri-6 Sindh low type rose by Rs 20 to Rs 3040 and Rs 3100, Khandsari was quoted at Rs 6000 and Rs 7000, cottonseed oilcakes Sindh low type was put at Rs 700 while the other type shed Rs 100 to Rs 800.
On Jodia Bazar Chili dandiwali conceded Rs 2000 to Rs 5600, Chilies dandicut shed Rs 1200 to Rs 6800, Darachini shed Rs 300 to Rs 5900, Haldi was quoted at Rs 3700 and Corianderseed lost Rs 400 to Rs 3600,
On Wednesday Irri-6 Sindh low type shed Rs 65 to Rs 2975, while the other type shed Rs 50 to Rs 3050, cottonseed oilcakes low type drifted lower losing Rs 50 to Rs 650 and the other qualty shed Rs 100 to Rs 700.
On Jodia Bazar Rangolite C (per pound) China gave in Rs 3 to Rs 90, same item from Germany went down by Rs 6 to Rs 93, Acetic Asid Taiwan shed 60 paisa to Rs 94, hydrogen peroxide Descon 50pc shed Rs 11 to Rs 48, Sitara lost Rs 13 to Rs 48, Taiwan 35percent lost Rs 9 to Rs 51, Korea five percent lost Rs 12 to Rs 51 and Thailand lost Rs 14 to Rs 49.
On Thursday Irri-6 Sindh rose by Rs 25 to Rs 3000 and Rs 3075, rapeseed cakes shed Rs 40 to Rs 830 and Rs 840, cottonseed with bag in Sindh low type was put at Rs 650 while the other variety rose by Rs 50 to Rs 750, castorseed Lasbella was quoted at Rs 2150 and 2000.
On Friday prices of commodity items retained overnight levels as almost all the participants were busy in preparations for Juma prayers.

HDPE (FILM): Saudia 952 edged higher by 50 paisa to Rs 75 and TR144 finished up by Rs 1.50 to Rs 75. HDPE (INJECTION): Iran edged higher by Rs 3 to Rs 76.
HDPE (BLOW): Kuwait finished upward by Rs 2.75 to Rs 78, Marlex Singapore closed higher by Rs 2.50 to Rs 78 and Iran moved upward by Rs 2 to Rs 76. LDPE: MG20 went down by Re 1 to Rs 89 and MG70 moved upward by Rs 5 to Rs 95. LLDPE: W118 edged up by Rs 1.50 to Rs 72, 7087 closed higher by 75 paisa to Rs 71 and Sabic 500026 was quoted at Rs 90. POLYPROPYLENE (FILM): Thai closed lower by 75 paisa to Rs 77, Kuwait edged down by Rs 4.50 to Rs 77 and India went up by 50 paisa to Rs 77.
POLYPROPYLENE (TAPE GRADE): India was quoted at Rs 76, Kuwait was also quoted at Rs 76 and Saudia moved higher by Rs 1.50 to Rs 76. POLYPROPYLENE (INJECTION GRADE): Saudia edged up by Rs 2 to Rs 76, India closed down by 50 paisa to Rs 46 and Kuwait was quoted at Rs 76.
POLYSTYRENE: Pakistani was quoted at Rs 4,910. COPOLY: Block was quoted at Rs 81 and Randon moved lower by Rs 7 to Rs 85. HIGH IMPACT (Per bag): Pakistani was quoted at Rs 5,490. ABS: Polylac 707 moved higher by Rs 50 to Rs 6,200.
On Saturday subdued business was again witnessed as most of the commodity items did not show any change due to balanced demand and supply position. Guwar Sindh and Punjab was higher by Rs 900 to Rs 7800-8800. Irri-6 Sindh low type was up by Rs 50 to Rs 3050 and better type gained Rs 25 to Rs 3100. Gur low type was down by Rs 100 to Rs 4500 while the good type managed to hold overnight levels.
