Businessmen-government dispute: PIAF urges Punjab chief minister to devise mechanism

Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front has urged chief minister Punjab to evolve a mechanism whereby a respective trade body or association is to be consulted if a dispute arises between a business group and any of the government departments.
PIAF Chairman, Sohail Lashari said, in a statement on Saturday, that sealing of Al-Fatah Store is an unfortunate incident that has sent a very wrong signal to the business community but if the association was consulted, the situation could have been avoided. He said LDA has taken a condemnable action and sealed the departmental store of LCCI former vice president, Irfan Iqbal Sheikh without any solid reason.
He said that the move has created unrest among traders and they compelled to take to the street and registered their protest against the unjustified step. He said that at the time when business activities were already crushed by the energy crisis and various other issues such actions would further aggravate the situation. Lashari said Punjab CM should bound the bureaucracy to avoid such groundless actions against the business community with prior consultation with the concerned trade association or chamber of commerce and industry so that atmosphere could be conducive for economic activities in the province.
