Prolonged winter expected this year: MET

Director General MET office, Muhammad Hanif said that the excessive wave of winter season will continue more than usual this year by two to three weeks in the country. Talking to PTV on Wednesday, DG MET said that extreme weather situation will prevail in Northern and Upper Areas and Balochistan and it will increase during next 48 hours due to cloudy weather but there will be no rain.
He said rain is expected on Friday in upper areas including Islamabad, which will continue till weekend and there will be heavy snowfall in Murree-Guliyat during next 72 hours, he added. To a question he said that snowfall in Islamabad will be dependent on the temperature of the city.
