An Advocate of Sindh High Court was gunned down while his driver sustained bullet injures at New M A Jinnah Road in the limits of Jamshed Quarter police station.
According to police sources, the incident took place near Government Islamia College new MA Jinnah Road, where Maqbool-ur-Rehman, 45 son of Ghulam Mustafa was targeted near Government Islamia College new M A Jinnah Road while on way to home located in Gulistan Jauhar, Block 7 in his car (CP-5198).
Resultantly Maqbool and his driver Yousuf received bullet wounds while the culprits, who were five in number managed to flee from the scene in leaps and bounds. Police shifted injured to nearby private hospital where Maqbool succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
DSP Malik Murtaza said the victim, who was advocate in Sindh High Court, received six 9MM bullets. He suspected that Maqbool might have been murdered over sectarian ground as he was contesting several cases of the activists of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ), formerly known as outlawed Sipah Sahaba Pakistan. He said the victim, who was the resident of Gulistan Jauhar, hailed from Rahim Yar Khan and father of three.
Spokesman of ASWJ Maulana Taj Hanfi said the victim was a senior lawyer and had been dealing cases and other legal formalities of ASWJ for last 12 years. Hanfi condemning the killing demanded of the authorities concerned to take the responsible persons to task.
Meanwhile, Iftikhar Javed Qazi, President Sindh Bar Council also condemned the killing and demanded of the government to take measures to avert such incidents in future. Later, police handed over his body to the heirs. No case was registered till filing of this report. In another incident, police found a slaughtered body of a woman in six pieces at Shaheed-e-Millat road, PECHS Block 7, in the remits of Ferozabad police station.
On being informed by the inhabitants that a suspicious bag was lying open on an empty plot, the police recovered a headless body of a woman in five pieces. Police shifted the body to hospital and later found her head from Shara-e-Faisal.
The body parts were examined at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and shifted to morgue for identification while a case was registered against unknown culprits. Another man was shot dead, while other injured at Jamia Millia Malir in the limits of Al-Falah police station. Police said that armed men sprayed Adnan Barohi and Faqir with bullets when they were standing near their residence in Gharibabad, Khokhrapar.
Both persons sustained bullet wounds and rushed to the JPMC for treatment where Barohi succumbed to his injures while Faqir was admitted to ICU in critical condition. Police said the victims might have been murdered over personal grounds. No case was registered till filing of this report.
