Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaqat Baloch said on Sunday that people of the country were heading towards revolt because of electricity and gas crisis besides continuous hike in fuel prices. Talking to a delegation of traders at Mansoora, he said that the present government gave nothing to masses except corruption, lawlessness, price hike, collapse of national institutions and clash with the judiciary.
Baloch said that the rise in electricity and POL prices besides the energy crisis were the main causes of the rise in prices of all goods.
The cost of production had increased manifold and ruined both industry and agriculture, he added.
He said that according to the Economic Survey and State Bank report, the prices of essential items and agricultural inputs had increased manifold during the last four years.
Baloch assured the delegation that if the JI came to power through popular vote, it would cut down prices by 30 percent, guarantee jobs and eliminate corruption within six months.
New dams would be built and cheap electricity would be provided to industry and agriculture, he said.
