Federal Minister for Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Saturday called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr and briefed him about working of the Information Ministry. The President underlined the need for highlighting the achievements of the government in various sectors during the past four years, in both the print and electronic media.
Various achievements of the present government include among others its flagship program ie Benazir Income Support Program, targeting poverty directly and earning recognition at international level, workers empowerment by giving them 12 percent shares in the state run entities, 18th Constitutional Amendment and NFC award. Other steps include undertaking of various initiatives to overcome power and energy crisis, taking the challenge of militancy head on, effectively tackling the IDPs issue and putting back the economy in the right direction despite natural calamities of unprecedented nature.
