Pakistan on Friday rejected India's assertion on Jammu and Kashmir. India has termed the disputed territory an 'integral part of India'. "Government of Pakistan rejects the assertion made in the statement made by Indian Ministry of External Affairs' spokesman that the entire State of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India", Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said in response to a question pertaining to Indian Ministry of External Affairs' statement on nWednesday, depicting map of India on the web site of US State Department.
The spokesman said that the correct position, as established by the United Nations in accordance with its relevant resolutions, is that the State of Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory, the final status of which is yet to be determined. Indian Ministry of External Affairs' Spokesperson Vishnu Prakash on Wednesday objected to the "gross inaccuracies" in the Indian map on the web site of the US State Department with regard to Jammu and Kashmir.
He further added: "The government takes this opportunity to reaffirm that the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and has consistently conveyed to the international community that maps of India should depict the boundaries of our country correctly." Pakistan, however, constantly rejected the Indian stance over the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
