The Swiss franc inched lower against the euro and the dollar on Friday as investors awaited Swiss inflation data that could highlight deflation risks and trigger a new round of speculation about a shift in the SNB's euro-franc floor. The Swiss National Bank set a cap at 1.20 francs per euro on September 6, citing deflation and recession risks, and falling prices could lead the central bank to take further measures.
The franc fell 0.2 percent against the dollar to trade at 0.9538 francs per dollar by 0747 GMT compared to the New York close. It was down 0.1 percent against the euro at 1.2192 francs per euro.
