A photo exhibition would be organised here from January 9 to depict the Pak-German development co-operation over the past five decades. This was stated by an official of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Karachi on Friday.
He said the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Karachi and the Goethe-Institute in Pakistan presented a collaborative photo-exhibition '50 years of Pakistan-German development co-operation' from January 9. Consul General of Germany in Karachi, Dr Tilo Klinner, will perform the inauguration of the exhibition which will remain on display till January 31.
The official further pointed out that the development co-operation between Pakistan and Germany went back to 1961 with the funding volume to date totalling some Euro 2.3 billion. Pakistan was thus one of Germany's first partner countries. It was pointed out that the financing for the Manghopir Cement Factory in Karachi was the first of many Pakistan-German co-operation projects and programmes that have contributed to Pakistan's development.
Funding was initially provided to the energy, industrial, transport and telecommunications sectors. Today, the priority areas of Pakistan-German development co-operation are good governance, energy, health and basic and vocational education. Over the past five decades, Pakistan and Germany have implemented numerous development projects. The selected examples and impacts of these projects will be presented in the photo-exhibition in words and pictures on January 9 at 6:00 pm at the Goethe-Institut Karachi.-PR
