Uplift projects by: labour Department Punjab to provide required funds

Provincial Minister for Labour, Haji Ehsaanuddin Qureshi has said that government will provide required funds for the completion of ongoing development projects launched by the labour department, whereas new welfare schemes would also be initiated for provision of modern education and residential facilities to the children of labourers.
He informed that grant for the heirs of deceased industrial workers has been increased from Rs 2,000 to equivalent to one month pay however, not exceeding Rs 10,000.
Talking to various delegations of workers, Ehsaanuddin said that free education including books, stationery, transport and uniform are also being provided to 28 thousand children of workers in 46 workers welfare schools of the province. He said that welfare board is bearing all educational expenses of the children of workers in those six districts of the Punjab where workers welfare schools are not existed. He said that government has increased marriage and death grant for them whereas the amount of scholarship has also been increased.
He further stated that 7,000 children have been enrolled at non-formal school at brick kilns in Lahore and Kasur districts, Rs 75 million have provided as interest-free micro credit to brick kiln workers and cases of over 5,700 workers for ID card have been processed.
Punjab government is giving top priority to the provision of state of the art healthcare facilities to the labourers and the main objective of the labour department is to provide free of cost comprehensive healthcare facilities to the workers and their family members, he concluded.
