About 80 percent, or more than 1000, branches of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) have been converted to online network in the country. According to NBP on Friday, its entire branch network is completely on-line in two provinces Gilgit/Baltistan and Balochistan, while 10 regions namely, Sukkur, Quetta, Larkana, Gilgit, Gwadar, Islamabad, Jhelum, Karachi South, Lahore Central and Lahore East have online connectivity.
Total number of branches in these ten regions is 304. Cumulatively, the bank has converted its more than 1000 branches online, out of its countrywide network of 1271 branches. NBP is present in the remotest areas of the country, where no other financial institution exists, mainly due to commercial viability. With majority of branches going online, people living in such remote areas will benefit the most, it added.
