Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA) organised a seminar with a view to acquaint the members with the rules and act of Employees' Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI). According to information made available by the association, the seminar was held last week at the PHMA House, which was addressed by Advocate Raja Faiz-ul-Hasan.
He informed the participants of the rules and act 1976 of the EOBI. Highlighting the key rules of the institution, he made it clear that there was no provision for suo motu registration in the Act. He said minimum wages as per minimum wage for the unskilled worker ordinance, 1969 is Rs 6,000.
Demand and Show Cause Notice can only be issued as per provisions contained in EOBI (verification) Regulations, he said, adding that resort to land revenue can be made only after determination of contribution under section 33 of the Act, as decided by the Superior courts. "Inspection of record can be demanded in the situation as provided in section 12 and Verification Regulations only," Raja Faiz-ul-Hasan said and added that record can be inspected only by the authorised officer, with a proper authority letter and not by all officers of the institution.
